0:12Well, who is he and why should you be concerned?

0:15David Geier is a researcher who does not have a medical degree.

0:19He's a known anti-vaccine activist.

0:22He's published many flawed studies claiming that vaccines cause autism.

0:28He got in trouble for practicing medicine without a license. That's not great.

0:32And with his dad, he once pedalled a drug that was used for chemical castration as an autism cure.

0:40Now,

0:41Mark Geier, David's dad, lost his medical license.

0:44You know who else did? Andrew Wakefield,

0:46the author of the deeply flawed and retracted 1998 study claiming a vaccine autism link, which basically started all of this.

0:55But since then, the Geiers have put out the majority of their papers claiming a vaccine autism link, and their studies used shoddy data, methodology, and are not validated at all in the scientific community.

1:04And I'll add, their research review board involved family and business associates.

1:09Meanwhile,

1:11over 40 high quality studies involving 5.6 million people all came to the same conclusion.

1:18Vaccines don't cause autism.

1:21Look, researching autism risk is noble and needed, but wasting dollars trying to amplify the vaccine autism myth isn't getting us anywhere.

1:27Instead, that money should be going towards responsible research, looking at treatments, risk factors and more.
