Our first Mount Whitney trip & biggest backpacking fail…
I honestly can’t believe I haven’t shared this story yet, probably because it makes me cringe every time I think about it!!
This was one of the most humbling, difficult, and type 2 (bordering on type 3) experiences we have had in the outdoors, and it really taught us a LOT.
Like..

Your gear does matter!!! I love @columbia1938’s gear and that they are making high quality apparel for even the wildest adventures. I love that they’re embracing the type 2 (or type 3), the unexpected, and the challenge, because those are usually our most memorable experiences out there.
While this was an absolutely ridiculous trip, and we added 8 extra miles onto one of the hardest hikes in CA, while carrying 45+lbs… I still look back on this story with so much joy. This was one of the first trips where we really fell in love with this stuff… the pain, the mistakes, the laughs, and these beautiful mountains!!
