Don't let renting seniors, families, and working people fall through the cracks!
Responding to grassroots organizing throughout the state by tenants and community allies, the legislature is considering Senate Bill 608 that would protect some seniors, families, and working people who rent from no-cause evictions and set a limit on some rent increases.
SB 608 would be an important first step toward bringing stability to the rental housing market.
Call Senator Golden and tell him you support Senate Bill 608, which would:
1 - Provide protection from no cause evictions for tenants after they have lived in their home for one year; and
2 - Limit rent increases to no more than 7% plus inflation every year. (It exempts regulated affordable housing (which is already protected by limits on rent increases), and new construction for the first fifteen years.
We need to make our voices heard now to fight for the strongest possible bill.
There is a hearing on this bill in the Oregon Senate Housing Committee, which Jeff Golden sits on, this Monday, February 4th at 3pm. Senator Golden represents Medford, Phoenix, Talent, and Ashland. Call him today and tell him you support SB 608.
