0:00I am in complete danger of ignoring my own advice in this regard.
0:05A piece of advice, number two: shoot more.
0:07If we want to get better we have to photograph, and typically
0:10we have to photograph a lot more than we already are.
0:13I can go for months and not pick up a camera
0:15with any kind of serious intention.
0:17And then when I get to a place like this and I start photographing,
0:20I'm slow and I'm sloppy,
0:21and I see a bunch of pictures
0:23that I should have made, but I wasn't fast enough to make them.
0:26And that just comes from lack of practice.
0:28Even when I was assisting back in the day for more seasoned photographers,
0:32it was very rare that they could go from inactivity to activity
0:36and be at the top of their game.
0:37They had to shoot themselves back into shape.
0:39Editors would call us and say, shoot more, shoot more, shoot more,
0:43because they knew that photographers needed that practice
0:46and that repetition, even people at a really high level.
0:49So for the rest of us, it just means getting in the field.
0:52Don't make excuses. Just get out there any time you can.
0:55Any chance you have. Get out there and shoot more.
